Our little half-newf made his first visit home! I was so anxious about being on the plane with him, because (let's be honest) flying when there is a crying baby on board is never fun for anyone. I didn't quite know what to expect or how our little man would react, but I can tell you, Nicho was a rock star! He ate on the way up, played, napped and then ate on the way down! The direct flight to Halifax was fantastic, the perfect length for those traveling with a newborn!
We landed in Newfoundland and were greeted by some very very friendly faces. Not just those of Nanny and Poppy, (which were the most important) but it seemed like everywhere we looked there was someone else with a huge smile on their face just watching Nicho. He was wide awake and couldn't get enough of the BUZZ that was going on around him.
Our little man got on Newfie time as soon as he had his first filtered taste of fish and chips, or fi-n-chi (fee-n-chee), as Chris likes to call it. DELICIOUS!!! Who can complain? I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I need to drop 10 pounds before each trip to Newfoundland just so I can eat all that I want when I am there! I just can't say no to Judy's Blueberry Pudding... Seriously??... Seriously...
There were many highlights to our short trip home, but the one that will forever hold a very special place in my heart is Nicho getting to meet his one and only great grandmother, Nan Pieroway. What an amazing woman! It is a blessing for my little man to not only have 4 wonderful grandparents, but also have a great grandmother in his life. We are very lucky to have him surrounded by love wherever we go.
All in all, our first trip home was a huge success. I don't think that we could have piled any more in to one trip, but I am so glad we did. We went to a beautiful wedding in Peggy's Cove, NS. Nicho made it through about 2 minutes, but at least he made it to his first wedding! Thank Heavens Nanny was there to keep him company! We were able to meet some very beautiful little girls belonging to a few of Chris' very good friends. All I can say is that Nicho will have a hard time figuring out which one to flirt with!! (Ahhhhh... I can't believe I even thought that)
Now it's back to the real world. Truth be told, we probably could have used a weeks vacation after our trip to recuperate, but c'est la vie! The world better watch out, 'cause Nicho's going to take it by storm!!
